A bank once again will fill a lot across from Lake Loveland that held a bank branch until it moved out in 2014. That building was removed in 2016.
Denver-based ANB Bank has started construction on its first Loveland branch, which should open for business in December, according to Laura Schmult, senior vice president and senior digital officer for ANB Bank.
The foundation and floor of the two-story, 8,400-square-foot building have been poured at the site at 808 W. Eisenhower Blvd., at the southwest corner of Eisenhower and Colorado Avenue, she said. The steel erection will start the third week of July.
"The bank will be on the first floor, with offices for lease on the second floor," Schmult said. "There will not be any drive-up lanes with this particular branch."
Adna Romero, an 18-year veteran of the banking industry, will manage the branch, which will have eight employees, she said.
ANB Bank is owned by Denver-based Sturm Financial Group, a banking company with $2.6 billion in assets and 30 branches in Colorado, Wyoming and the Kansas City area, according to the company's website, anbbank.com.
Schmult said ANB Bank recently opened a new bank on 17th Street in downtown Denver and one in Casper, Wyo.; is building new branches in Grand Junction and Worland, Wyo.; and has several additional locations in the works for 2019. It has a banking center in Fort Collins as well.
Bryan Construction of Fort Collins is building the branch, she said, and Bruce Campbell of Realtec Commercial Real Estate Services will be the leasing broker for the office space.
Western States Bank bought the three-quarters-acre lot in August 2006 and had a branch there in a modular building from 2007 to Dec. 1, 2014, when the bank moved to its current location at 3149 N. Garfield Ave. near Hobby Lobby.
Before Western States Bank, the property held an Arby's restaurant starting in the late 1970s and a Freddo's ice cream shop for a while after that.
Dr. Patrick Lillis, who owns Lake Loveland Dermatology directly east of the lot, bought the property from Western States Bank in September 2015. At the time, he said he planned to build a two-story office building there and move some of the businesses that were leasing space in his building at 776 W. Eisenhower Blvd. into the new building.
He put those plans on hold, though, and then in April of this year sold the property, for which he'd paid $500,000, for $952,852, according to Larimer County records.
